Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge

Every year, in late July, the old port of Cowes on the isle of Wight, and the legendary waters of the Solent play host to the most important event in the United Kingdom for classic yachts, part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge since 2010. Dozens of yachts, mainly from Northern European countries, gather in Cowes to take part in the five races that may bring them final victory, and in the spectacular Panerai Classic Round the Island Race, organised on the first Sunday along the course that in 1851 gave rise to the America’s Cup. The Classic Week will take place from the 14th July – 21st July in Cowes,…

Roger W. Smith – The Cradle of high horology

Horology is a huge part of my life. It’s my biggest passion. So, naturally, it pains me to say that not much in the world of watches blows me away anymore. The truth is, I have been very lucky. Many of the people that I am fortunate to call my friends happen to be some of the world’s most recognised collectors of horology. Living in Los Angeles also helps. With watch boutiques galore and a steadily-growing network of collectors, I find myself attending a watch-related event seemingly every week. Not only do I get to see, play with and wear some amazing watches, I get to do it with a…

Montre Ecole

To celebrate the Britishness of London Craft Week 2018, Laurent Ferrier has created the Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole” in British Racing Green. When he was a boy, Laurent Ferrier was impressed by race cars not only for their performance but also for their design. He had a poster in his bedroom featuring the Triumph Spitfire racing in Le Mans. Laurent recalls: “To me, it was the most beautiful car ever. I wanted to drive itso badly! I was also completely devoted to its shapes and of course the color was striking.” The idea of creating a Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole” British Racing Green became obvious to pay tribute to craftsmanship in the London Craft Week. The…

With initial appearances in platinum and red gold, the new column wheel chronograph’s functional design, exquisite precision and reliable performance earned it immediate acclaim.

SEAMASTER OLYMPIC GAMES LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION

Omega’s role as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games began in 1932 so it is fair to say that the role is theirs to keep. If you’ve never heard of Omega or have just emerged from a childlike state, Omega’s horological influence goes back to 1903. It’s widely accepted as the sporting man’s Swiss luxury watch, with official ties to NASA (the Speedmaster, the first moon watch in 1969) and the watch Bond has worn since 1995’s Goldeneye. The models are available in the five colours of the famous Rings of the Olympic Games. Only 2,032 versions of each model have been created, representing the year 2032, which will be OMEGA’s 100th year…

The Marloe Watch Company

Historically watch brands from Britannia have had trouble standing up to be counted. Even with our role as pioneers of the Industrial Revolution, we’ve never really been able to create a serial fabrication of pocket and wristwatches. I always found this rather strange considering our island nation has a long standing connection to watchmaking, John Arnold, Thomas Mudge, John Harrison, Thomas Tompion, and George Graham can all be regarded as having left their mark on horology. So it is always heartening to come into close quarters with a watch brand thats really rather bloody good. The Marloe Watch Co is a new and independent designer and producer based in Oxfordshire…
