The Scent of The Season

Lingering in a stocking, waiting under the tree, or an early gift for a private moment. A scent is personal, a fragrance is meaningful, a present for the season that creates memories with every wear.

She/They

Electimuss, Caspian Cherry

A true treat for the gourmand lover, Electimuss, Caspian Cherry ensnares the top notes of black cherry and dark chocolate, with heart notes of vetiver and cinnamon and an ending of tonka bean and sandalwood. This creation from the London-based perfumer plays with the unusual and bespoke and looks for a home with an admirer of sweet and woody scents.

Buzzing and fruity but with unexpected depth, Diem Scent Collective, Neon Nectar combines the heady notes of lychee, peony, pear and rose and liberates them of their too-youthful sweetness with the lingering intrigue of bergamot and incense. It’s juicy, floral, bright and effervescent and should be reached for when welcoming lightness into one’s day.

Within 51/49, Om Mimosa

Complex yet alluringly light and floral, Within 51/49, Om Mimosa takes heightening scents of bergamot oil and lily of the valley in an unexpected meet-cute with bright celery seed oil and warming turmeric root, with mimosa and heliotrope. Within 51/49 ingredients are met with different MhZ sound frequencies to maximise their effect, combining sound and organic elements for scent alchemy.

Taking classic notes of lavender, frankincense and vetiver Adscenture, Firefly creates a dominance gently persuaded by juicy blackcurrant and lime. Earthiness holds strong in balance, with notes of rosemary and moss. It’s a definitive British scent for those who reach for steadfast warming and herbal, reassuringly loamy scents.

Goldfield & Banks, Silky Woods

Bringing sustainably harvested native agarwood, a supremely rare perfumery ingredient, Goldfield & Banks, Silky Woods is the embodiment of the perfect warming, sensual scent. A jubilance of Australian ingredients, notes of saffron, incense, ylang ylang and native sandalwood meet vanilla and tobacco to create a velvety and captivating bouquet of spiced woods.

Woody and spicy, yet with a gentle florality, Bentley, Become evolves as the newest fragrance offering from the family. Taking Mediterranean influence, it rises with sweet orange and bergamot to a heart-note tang of juniper berry with sweetening myrrh. A sublime warmth of cedarwood joins a trio of Madagascan ingredients, with black pepper, vetiver and patchouli, and a final woody hold of santal album oil.

Kingdom Scotland, Albaura

Bold and botanical, icy and woody Kingdom Scotland, Albaura takes wintry notations of frosted berries, fresh snow and open air. A native perfumer, they use distinctive notes of arctic poppy, atlas cedar, rock moss and ambergris. This unique fragrance brings the freshness of the seasons’ wind over mountain peaks and the wilderness across which they have roamed.

He/They

Discotheque, Dark Imagination

Rich, sweet tones of Damask and Moroccan rose leap through to the forefront of Discotheque, Dark Imagination, met with the intense warmth of saffron and leather. Birch tar adds a perfectly balancing acerbity, set against a sweet swirl of patchouli and an intriguing smokiness. It’s a dance with eyes closed, reaching into the unknown, for the lover of audacious, sensual fragrance.

Fierce independence combined with a French arthouse influence led to Art De Parfum, Sabotage from Lithuanian perfumer Ruta Degutyte. With ‘90s inspiration, spearmint meets citrus in pink grapefruit and bitter orange to hail a negroni accord at the undress, which takes its heart in the floral playing with rhubarb and petitgrain and an unexpected herbaceousness in basil. Closing with a creamy woodiness of patchouli, cedar, moss and musk, it’s a riot of colour in scent.

Brioni Eau De Parfum, Suave

Newest from the house, Brioni Eau De Parfum, Suave makes the fifth edition of their signature scents. Taking a slightly darker turn, and with their first introduction of leather, this fragrance envelopes the wearer with a spicy ambrette, lifted by the bright aromas of tangerine and pink peppercorn. An embrace of earthiness is welcomed with vetiver, cardamon and sandalwood, taken to a close with salted amber.

Ormonde Jayne, Verano opens with the freshness of a Mediterranean morning, as soft citrus bergamot, orange and grapefruit are carried on the breeze, the rustle of herbaceous clary sage and juniper, floral magnolia and rose and violet. Freshly brewed tea meets tobacco leaf over a light breakfast, enveloped by suede and sandalwood with cashmeran and tonka bean, moss and ambergris promising deep warmth to the day ahead.

BDK Parfums, Pas Ce Soir Extrait

BDK Parfums, Pas Ce Soir Extrait twists the gourmand from simply sweet to addictively seductive, with cocoa moving through fresh black pepper and spicy ginger. The saccharine is realised with the intriguingly unusual note of quince chutney alongside juicy peach flesh and blossoms of orange and jasmine. Rounded by Singaporean patchouli and vanilla, its power comes from much more than its 30% concentration.

The pendulum swings with intense conspiracy in Pictor Parfums, Dark Room. Will it settle for the time-honoured sweetness of powdery violet or the supple depth of tanned leather? Fruited notes of raspberry rise, entwined with smooth cedarwood as vanilla tangles with amber and musk with a headiness of moss for a fragrance that seemingly evolves with each exposure.

JUSBOX, Black Powder

JUSBOX, Black Powder is another fragrance here to celebrate the versatility of patchouli, it’s hard to find a bespoke scent without it, as its musky, woody spice lends itself so well to all families of fragrance. Opening with crisp notes of apple, pimento and blackcurrant, this blend captures the vibe of 90s Seattle, with Kurt Cobain at the helm of the new music scene. Bohemian and romantic, yet raw and full of complexities, perfumer Julien Rasquinet uses tobacco, suede, frankincense, sandalwood and tonka bean. In one spritz you feel the electricity and heat of the venue as the music rises around you.

DS & Durga, Before Common Essens Scented Candle

Master of the niche fragrance, DS & Durga, Before Common Essens Scented Candle joins all seasonal festivities as one celebration, taking fragrance notes of holy practice all over the globe in a beautiful unison. The top notes of myrrh and galbanum meet cassia and costus root and base notes of balsams and spikenard for a warming, optimistic aura, housed in a tinted glass votive.

Rituals, Private Collection Wild Fig Gift Set marries juicy Italian fig with Chinese orris and Indian sandalwood. Spicy, creamy, warm and gourmand, with cocoa and clove, this candle, fragrance sticks and home perfume shapes a cosy atmosphere with a sleek black design and gold details throughout.

Celebrating all that was great about the 80s scene – the music, the venues and the highs of what happens after dark – is Discotheque, ‘80s Candle Trio. Mudd Club, Paradise Garage, Hacienda, move from sweet vanilla and coconut, through blackcurrant and cedar, to apple and petitgrain, each scent encapsulating the nostalgia of the night. Design details take smooth caramel with pops of navy, cabernet and verdant green in hand-blown three-colour gradient glass votives.

Mirror Water, Sun Through Trees Scented Candle

A first from beauty brand Mirror Water, Sun Through Trees Scented Candle was born of a need for the grounding woody ambience of dappled sunlight resting on a forest floor. A base of creamy cedar and sandalwood with piquant pine falls below a warm heart of amber and balsam as zesty higher tones of bergamot rise like the breeze, harboured by a translucent forest green votive.

Lalique, The Night, Nairobi – Kenya Scented Candle brings a soothing scent with nutty notes of amaretto and heady jasmine, with a heart of iris and plum and a base of coffee and vetiver. Taking the lead in the design of beautiful French glassware, the blue lacquered votive features a deep matte navy, with laser cut swallows in gold, and a luminescent gold interior.
